About our  Yoga

Yoga is an open invitation to relax into life as deeply as possible.
This ability to relax fully is based on enquiry which starts on the mat & naturally flows into every aspect of our daily lives regardless of personal circumstance.
Yoga is not a philosophy or analysis of life made from the mind but a pragmatic investigation made through the body by feeling and exploring that which is actually happening here and now.

The origins of Yoga nobody really knows! From India?  from dance? from the very start of life itself? The yoga we practise is based on the laws of nature, gravity and integrity. Giving the same value to physical as spiritual. 

Yoga and the meaning of unity cannot be separated, in the same way that we cannot separate life from death, yoga is practised re-discovering the wholeness that you already are and has little to do (as many have been led to believe) with being able to put your leg behind your head or hold your breathe for 10 mins! What does that give to ourselves, to our family or the rest of the world?

Through the clear understanding of Godfri Devereux, the ancient yoga master Patanjali’s sutras or texts are the keys to practising and experiencing yoga.
The sutras can be used as tools, lenses or seen clearly as the nature of consciousness itself the gateway into yoga, the realisation of unity in bodymind & spirit.

What will I be asked to do?

You will be invited to lengthen, broaden, ground and soften your body so that you are the most stable and comfortable as possible both in movement and stillness
To enquire into the actions you are making and the impacts they are having by being sensitive to the needs of your own body.
To invite your mind to rest through awareness (not by control)
To enquire into making the minimum muscular effort possible and necessary
To invite the breath to be free (not by controlling it)
and perhaps most important to listen to your own body, the teacher being there as a fascillitator, your body being there to guide you at all times
To enquire into making movement with integrity through the lenses of the yamas of Patanjali being; sensitivity, honesty, openness, presence and generosity leaving no room to be aggressive with the body & lots of room for discovery and enjoyment …

What style is it?   

The heart of this method is simplicity. Revealing just how simple, easy and down to earth yoga really is!
  Being not a style, The Dynamic yoga method is a clarification of unity in bodymind and awareness, leaving you free to practise any style or series of yoga which most suits you. In my direct experience it has been an invaluable gift like learning to walk- when you can walk freely, you can walk anywhere the wind blows!
  The Dynamic Yoga learning method (many thanks to Godfri Devereux) is taught from the deepest roots of trust & in a grounded understanding of integrity. (I would say love is its source however I think that can be a confusing word!) Still, it is love which is its foundation.
It is this trust, love & integrity that you will be invited to hear, express and honour at all times

Who can come?

   Anyone is welcome. Suitable for all ages and experience. If you’re a beginner it is an excellent introduction as it is a doorway to each style of yoga.
If you have experience already, a lot or little this can be an opportunity to deepen your own understanding, clarify the bandhas and explore your beginners mind again!
Please let us know if you need any unique attention or if you have any injuries before hand so we can accommodate you as much as possible. Many people with M.E have benefited from this approach to yoga.
