Our Living Country Hotel Villa... is much more than a beautiful andalucian cortijo - it is a labour of love.
Every tile, every door, every window has been chosen with great care and often only after a lengthy search.
This love story began when the owners, back in 1990, discovered a beautiful hill-top in Entrerrios which met all the requirements they were seeking - 360º panoramic views, a still mainly agricultural country area while being at only 10 minutes from the Coast.  On this beautiful piece of land they began the project of a small country house hotel - quite uncommon in Spain in those days.
Over a period of many years the project slowly took shape - years, indeed, since approval was needed from local and regional planning authorities as well as the tourism and Public Health departments and much of this was slow in coming.
However they made good use of these years to scour both locally and far afield for the  materials and antiques that have made
Hacienda San Jose so special.  The hand made floor and bathroom tiles are from Levante, the roof tiles from Cadiz, most of the antique doors are from Cordoba although all the cupboard doors are from a mansion in Málaga.
In the meantime the construction works progressed in the capable hands of D. M. Construcciones; also chosen due to their passion for old andalucian architecture which is evident in the arabesque ceilings, the cobblestone patios, the rounded wall finish and a host of other details perfectly executed in the most authentic manner.
Each detail was supervised daily by the owners so that the quality of the construction would match the beauty of the project. Only top quality building materials were used.
However much the prevailing idea was of an aesthetic nature, the more modern comforts inherent in a luxury present day dwelling were not ignored.  The walls are all insulated cavity walls, there is under floor heating throughout, Internet connection with WiFi, Climalit windows, satellite television connection in all the rooms, internal switchboard  with extensions, electric gates etc.
Finally the grounds received a very special attention and are divided into a beautiful garden area around the house and pool and an area of production for home consumption.  In the case of the latter there are 18 species of fruit trees.  In every case all trees and plants were chosen that need a minimum of water in respect of the environment.

….yes, indeed, a labour of love.
